Privacy Policy

Last updated 23 August 2026 · Applies to Tiny Ipsum for macOS

The short version

Tiny Ipsum does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no trackers, and no network access. Nothing you do in the app leaves your Mac.

What the app stores

Your settings — word presets, style presets, tile size, HTML wrapper tags, and your global keyboard shortcut — are saved locally in Tiny Ipsum's own preferences on your Mac. They are never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app removes them.

Generated placeholder text is written to your clipboard when you ask for it. It is not logged or retained by the app.

Network access

Tiny Ipsum makes no network requests. It does not check for updates, phone home, or contact any server. All placeholder text is generated on your device from word pools bundled with the app or created by you.

This website

tinyipsum.com is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts or fonts — every asset, including the typefaces, is served from this domain. Your web host may keep standard server access logs; this site adds nothing beyond that.

The one thing the site stores is your theme choice. If you pick Light or Dark in the footer, that single word is saved in your browser's local storage so the site can remember it on your next visit. It never leaves your browser, it isn't a cookie, and it isn't sent to any server. Leaving the picker on Auto stores nothing at all, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.

The Mac App Store

Tiny Ipsum is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the download and any purchase or crash-reporting data associated with your Apple Account, under Apple's privacy policy rather than this one. If you opt in to sharing crash and usage data with developers, Apple may show me aggregate, anonymised statistics. I cannot identify individual users from it.

Children

Tiny Ipsum collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
